Industrial modified

One of my all time favourite GTK2 themes is the good old Industrial, part of the gtk-engines. I even maintain at SBo the GTK1 Industrial engine/theme. Unfortunatelly, there is no port to GTK3 and seems there will not be anytime soon. Just as with almost all famous GTK2 engines/themes. New themes are emerging following the flat design fashion that I am really not fond of.

Archaeopteryx configuration

Archaeopteryx is a software tool for the visualization, analysis, and editing of potentially large and highly annotated phylogenetic trees. It is available at SBo and is particularly useful if you want to create visually appealing phylogenetic trees, to be used for publication figures or presentation slides. Legacy icons in XFCE

I finally upgraded to Slackware64 14.2. I made a clean install and set up the system to be -multilib. I use XFCE and I wanted to use my favourite GNOME Colors icon theme. It is not available at SBo for Slackware 14.2 anymore and it depends on gnome-icon-theme that was removed from Slackware in favour of adwaita-icon-theme. Read the rest of this entry »


Heroes III in a Windows VM

Over a year ago, I wrote a post about playing Heroes III natively in Linux thanks to the VCMI project. Unfortunatelly, the VCMI engine is not yet stable enough for me to consider the game playable. It turned out to crash way too often, and sometimes the AI players behave in a pretty weird way.
