Chrome Theme Creator

I want to make Google Chrome, a GTK3 application, match the colour scheme of my GTK2 theme that I am using with Xfce 4.12. I am using Murrina Gilouche, which has been among my favourite ones for many years. I can’t compile, say Chromium, against GTK2, so I want to make at least the colours of Chrome consistent with it.

GTK3 scrollbar arrows

I am not particularly happy with the lack of scrollbar arrows in application windows. Unfortunatelly, this is the default behaviour of GTK3 programs. I already dealt with GTK3 programs automatically hiding the scrollbars, so I decided to get the arrows back, as well.

Disable GTK3 window management

Some GTK3 programs, such as file-roller and Evince, use their own custom title bar with minimize, maximize and close buttons. Under Xfce, I have experienced hiccups with Evince when maximized: it would refuse to unmaximize the window (or rather, does not remember the dimensions of the unmaximized window) and behaves kinda “sticky” to desktop borders. In another case, if I have the compositor turned off, the window edges are not smoothened and look ugly.

GTK3 overlay scrollbars

I do not particularly like the behaviour of GTK3 applications. Among the things that annoy me are the scroll bars. I want to make them always visible, by removing the dynamic show/hide. I searched a bit and found this instructions at the excellent Arch Linux wiki.

Industrial modified

One of my all time favourite GTK2 themes is the good old Industrial, part of the gtk-engines. I even maintain at SBo the GTK1 Industrial engine/theme. Unfortunatelly, there is no port to GTK3 and seems there will not be anytime soon. Just as with almost all famous GTK2 engines/themes. New themes are emerging following the flat design fashion that I am really not fond of.
