Sound over HDMI cable

My laptop has an Intel video card and an HDMI port, that I want to use for audio signal output, as well. Unfortunatelly, sound over HDMI does not work out-of-the-box, so I searched for a solution. There are good instructions at the Arch Linux Wiki. Read the rest of this entry »


Hiding any file or folder in Thunar

Usually, programs store their configuration files in a hidden folder that resides within the user’s $HOME. Such folders start with a dot (.), and are therefore regarded as hidden by the file manager. There are however, programs that do not follow this convention and instead create a regular folder in $HOME to store their settings and system files. Slackonly: an update

Heroes III

I like to keep Heroes III around for the old times’ sake. I have the Complete edition, which unfortunatelly has no Linux version. The Complete edition can be installed and played via WINE, but it is not stable and keeps one of my CPU cores constantly at 100%.
