Keep lines thickness in Inkscape

I am preparing some figures in Inkscape. Something that always gets on my nerves is fixing lines (border) width when scaling objects. The solution is quite simple and actually obvious.

Rotate object around other object center in Inkscape

I had do design a simple scheme of a cell with certain markers expressed on its surface. The idea is pretty straightforward: draw a circle for the cells and draw a rectangle for the protein. But what if I want to change its position, by rotating it around the circle center?

Cropping an image in Inkscape

Lately, I’ve been processing a lot of imaging data in Inkscape. This included arranging imported pictures, setting their size, proportions and more. I needed an easy way to crop images that have been already imported in Inkscape. Usually, I would just make sure that everything is in the correct size before importing. Well, pedantic as this might be, it is time consuming.

Slackware and cited in a scientific publication

The latest paper from our research group has just been published in Scientific Reports. A big part of the work was done in silico, using different software tools and databases. All bioinformatics software used locally was installed on a Slackware64 system, almost exclusively from the scripts at With this post, I would like to give my sincere thanks to Slackware and the community.

Break a line in Inkscape
