A revdep equivalent for Slackware

Ever since using CRUX, a tool that I really miss on Slackware is RevDep, part of their PrtUtils. As it says on the webpage, it checks for missing or wrong libraries of installed packages. This is particularly useful, if you are running Slackware -current and have stuff installed from a third-party place, such as SBo. Recently, I came across a script that finds missing *.so files, essentially working as revdep on source distros like CRUX and Gentoo.

The tool is called slack-revdep.sh and it’s author is Emmett1, the creator of Venom Linux — a lightweight distribution, inspired by CRUX. I posted a thread on LQ, which yielded a useful discussion. Others recommended similar tools, such as: find-whatneedsrecompiling (by Mr. Volkerding himself) and this script by Petri Kaukasoina.

Cool!

    hi,
you can bring your suggestion to the mailing list, the irc channels or (much better) make a port and submit your repo to portdb. I am just a regular user of CRUX.

    the font looks nice, indeed
